A US Army infantry officer and combat commander, David Haight has more than 30 years of leadership experience in Special Operations and conventional Army units. Having combat service in Panama, Iraq, and Afghanistan, David Haight is affiliated with military-based charities including Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Veterans of Foreign Wars¬†focuses on advocacy and assistance to military veterans. Though it does offer financial assistance through scholarships and other programs, one of the not-for-profit’s most effective means of supporting veterans is through Action Corps, a grassroots network comprising 300,000 veterans and supporters.

The Action Corps’ primary responsibility is to reach out to lawmakers through various means of communication, advocating on behalf of veterans, current military members, and their families. One need not be a veteran to join. Participants receive regular action alerts on how to support veterans, as well as a weekly newsletter that highlights the group’s advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.
